Human psyche is shaped in early childhood and the patterns of behaviour remain remarkably constant into maturity.By Sigmond Freud & Alfred Adler A Damsel in Distress is a story of Shruti, Adi & Aditi: each one coming from a different background and how their life got impacted when their paths crossed.Shruti was a girl whose childhood trauma made her a forced introvert. The only people in her world were her father and the household helper couple who had taken care of her like their daughter after her mother's mysterious death. Her father Mr. Sunil Pradhan could not overcome his wife's death even after many years passed by, kept himself busy in his work and tended to neglect his daughter's upbringing at times. Shruti befriended her books, studies and her work and considered such a reclusive life set for her lifetime. Little did she knew that life had totally opposite plans for her........................Adi, a boy having suffered as a relatively neglected kid following the birth of his younger sister, preferred to overlook his grief. His attempts to protect his kid sister from the ill effects of wrong company failed due to his over protective mother. This difficult period developed Adi into a prematurely mature person with a huge sense of responsibility and readily helpful nature. His life was pretty simple................until his path crossed that of Shruti's.Having lost his sister to a tragic death due to the lack of proper company and guidance, Adi took on the challenge to assist Shruti in her battle against her past. Soon he fell in love with her. But to his utter dismay Shruti had sworn herself to celibacy due to various reasons known only to her and their house help. One of the reasons of Shruti turning Adi away turned out to be Aditi...... Having spent her childhood in an orphanage, Aditi wasn't exposed to family life or it's unconditional love. Being met with a strict disciplinarian environmental of the orphanage, she practically grew to be a rebel. She befriended a group of ruffians in her school, which encouraged her wayward behaviour. The orphanage sent her to Mumbai to pursue her MBA aspirations with donations and merit, thinking that meeting different people might help her overcome the damage already done. The question was, do the well ingrained negative qualities at childhood change without counseling or treatment? Would she be able to make the most of this opportunity? The larger question is-Is it possible to overcome the childhood trauma, forgive and forget and start life all over again with a clean slate and lead a happy life?Would Shruti recover from the traumatic experiences and accept Adi to live a happy and balanced life?
