My name is Hiram Jones. I am a licensed private investigator, Arthur instructor, and New Orleans business owner. I developed a name for myself, working cases involving unexplained phenomena such as ghosts, dark beings, UFOs, cold cases, and missing individuals across the United States. I grew up in southern Alabama near Citronelle and New Orleans' French Quarter. My Grandmother in Alabama raised me for most of my teenage years, and she exposed me to the spirit realm in an unusual way and taught me about it at an early age. My Grandmother was well-known in the community for her abilities, and she passed on a substantial portion of her knowledge to me. I am also a Freemason, and the Masonic order can be traced back to my ancestors and the Mayflower. I'm not proud of my reputation as a jerk. My vices are attractive women and Jack Daniels. But, honestly, I've been struggling with myself with my ultimate purpose other than being a father. Bill Yates is both my business partner and my brother. He is the only person I have left in my life who is always honest with me and has my back. Bill is an occultist. Jones Occult Emporium, located in the 900 Hundred block of Ursuline Avenue, is owned by Bill and me. We provide nightly ghost and vampire tours and psychic readings in the back of our shop. We also have a pub across the street called Handshoes. We got the bar after Eric Handshoe killed my friend and brother, and that's all I will say about it. When Bill and I were eating a Patty Melt and drinking a beer at Flanagan's on St. Phillip Street one evening, I had the distinction of introducing him to his wife, Sue. Mary Fox. She comes from a little town in the Midwest. She is a freelance journalist, Aurthur, and a Para Celebrity because she appeared on a Paranormal TV show. JJ's real name is John James Crum, and he is a New Orleans figure. He is a tall, slender, very homosexual Creole in his early twenties who was born and nurtured in New Orleans by his Grandmother, a local voodoo practitioner. His Grandmother was well-versed in the city's history and the occult realm. JJ and I are different. However, we have a lot in common and have tiny families left. Hector and Gladys Garcia are our friends in the store or at the bar. Hector is in his early forties, of Cuban heritage, and a computer and tech nerd. He hails from a Sanitaria family, and his wife Gladys, who is in her early sixties, is a local practicing witch and psychic who conducts readings at our store. Hector often joins us on investigations and cases. I work, but when he isn't with us, he's in the back of the store inventing the next ghost hunter gizmo or hanging out at the bar smoking cannabis with JJ. Hector is the most intelligent supernatural inventor. If Hector isn't with the crew, he's in the back of the store working on the next innovative ghost-hunting gizmo or hanging out at the bar with JJ and smoking pot. With the life I've chosen for myself, my thoughts and experiences frequently plague me. So I decided to put my experiences in writing so that on those lonely nights when my dreams and thoughts haunt me, I can revisit my experiences in my writings and separate the facts from my imagination, allowing me to continue to search for answers to questions I know will never be answered while remaining sane. So, if the Darkness is ever defeated in this world, I hope what you read can provide insight into what I have been through and what has helped form me as a man and a father. "Be careful what you seek in the darkness because it may find you."
