June 1947: Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and his mistress Virginia Hill are in a heated argument. She just told Ben that she's taken two million dollars of Meyer Lansky's money and hid it as well as given up their new-born daughter, Valentina, for adoption. Days later Benjamin Siegel is assassinated mob style in Virginia's Beverly Hills home. April 1968, twenty-one years later: Attorney Sam Shaw, from the law firm Thornton, Mender and Bigelow, is sent by Nathaniel Thornton to deliver a mysterious envelope that has been held and protected by Thornton for several years. Only he knows the true identity of the envelope's owner and what's inside. Shaw delivers the envelope to its recipient, Ms. Valentina Benjamin, a spunky, quick witted pragmatist, and an employee at MGM studios. Shortly after Shaw delivers the envelope and exits from the MGM Studio parking lot, his car explodes in a ball of fire much to the horror of the envelope's recipient, Valentina Benjamin. The explosion sets Valentina and her colleague, Artimis Sylver, on an incredible journey to find Val's true identity and a small fortune others have been searching to uncover for more than 21 years. Only a sinister master mind and several mob associates stand between Valentina and a life of prosperity. During Valentina's quest, she begins to take on the persona of her biological father, Benjamin Siegel. The story concludes with several twists and turns that will leave the reader wondering if they should be rooting for our heroin to succeed.
