Based on A True Story. Set in nostalgic 1960/70's England, this amusing, real-life drama, follows the bittersweet exploits of Charles Henry and a host of supporting colourful characters. Form leaving school in 1959 dyslexic, and, without any formal qualifications, Charles Henry's job prospects were extremely bleak! Turning down offers to earn easy dubious money, Charley worked initially for pennies! However, being a savvy, hard-working fella, he established himself as a builder taking on small mundane jobs that earn him a few pennies more. As the years progressed, he gained a gang of very witty skilled trades men! Charley then began to takes on the larger impossible nightmare projects that the other more established builders gave a wide-berth to. The most testing of all was Arthur Bainbridge's motel. His attitude was, sod the bloody guests, its business as usual while Charley and the boys demolish half of the rundown motel and build 30 gleaming new bedrooms with en-suite facilities. For the most part, mad eccentric motel owner was totally out of control. However, when Charley finally defused him, his tiny fire-spitting dragon of a wife took over making life on site even more of a living nightmare! Then there's Mr Wolfe, who went to an auction to buy a fairytale dream and came away with a property of extreme nightmares instead! Charley and the boys were tasked with extending and restoring the derelict 300-year-old Walnut cottage.
