Over 100 years ago, a school teacher wrote a Christmas story that became an instant classic. Aretta Young's "For Christ's Dear Sake" was recommended reading and featured in a list of books suggested for every "Traveling Library." First published in 1898 and then lost for over 100 years, this newly-rediscovered poem is available once again. Likened by some to "How the Grinch Stole Christmas meets A Christmas Carol," this little story will delight, entertain and inspire everyone who reads it. From the Editor, Barbara Radcliffe Bodtcher: I faithfully transcribed Aretta Young's story in its entirety. Then, I corrected a few punctuation, grammar and spelling errors that were overlooked by previous editors, and I made certain editorial revisions. To further improve readability, I divided the poem into chapters, provided chapter titles and added a photograph and a dozen paintings (full color in eBook version) that beautifully illustrate this little Christmas story. Afterward, I compared the new manuscript with the old booklet published in 1898 and found that the new version was true to Aretta's original text. However, the editing was improved in terms of structure and ease of reading for a modern audience. My best holiday wishes to you, the reader, as you rediscover a lost poem that will change your view of Christmas, and maybe even your life.
