Her life history is so rich in family devotion, outdoor enjoyment, and an abundance of community service and volunteerism. Louise was my aunt and Godmother, and this memoir helps me appreciate once again the many contributions she made to our Adirondack community that helped make it such a beautiful piece of our planet. I fear her book documents, without intending to, a certain lifestyle and culture which perhaps is becoming obsolete, thanks to the disruptive changes we see all around us. New technologies offer resources at our fingertips that invite us to acquire information, goods, services and entertainment to use at a moment's notice, but without the social and community interactions that were such an important part of Louise's generation. It is good her world is recorded for posterity, so we can compare the world of tomorrow with the world she knows. These few words are my way to thank Louise for sharing her life's journey in this incredible book. I know her daughters will pass her memories along to other family members and many more in future generations who will have the privilege to know Louise Gregg. As I read her words, I draw from the wisdom they impart in my own life.
