Dear parents and/or readers, This little book isn't a fairytale, but a reality that we find in the Bible. Our desire is that not only our children would learn, but yours as well! If we are honest, Lorena and I have also discovered much as we have read books to our little ones. We have learned to retell the Gospel using simple and understandable terms for each stage of their development. As they grow, so does our ability to explain the Gospel story. In this way, we learn alongside our children. The goal of this little book is to develop and trace a theme that we find in Scripture. There are many themes, but we will be focused on just one. Our theme starts at the beginning of the Bible and continues until the end. This way we can obtain a broader vision of the storyline in the Bible. It is somewhat like looking at a mosaic and observing how the main colors interact with the whole art piece, instead of focusing on one piece and losing the sense of the whole. The topic that we will develop will be that of "friendship/relationship." We were created for an intimate and satisfying relationship that God had planned from before having created us. And He has initiated this massive plan so that we can dwell with Him. HOW SHOULD I READ THIS BOOK? First of all, read it with enthusiasm and excitement! Our children absorb our emotions like sponges, and we want to be excited about what is truly important, and, hopefully, this excitement will be contagious. Show them how awesome it is to love the God of the Bible.Secondly, read it progressively and cumulatively. The Bible develops itself progressively, therefore we should read it in such a way that we are discovering together the mysteries of God for us. God doesn't give us all the information in the first chapter. Throughout this immense narrative, He has given us more and more content to help us understand His divine plan. The information that is closer to us in time does not correct what has been said previously, but adds to it. The information that is further away to us chronologically gives us the context to understand newer biblical revelation. Last, but not least, read it in a way that your child can comprehend it. Maybe your child will need you to explain certain terms. So we would encourage you to spend time doing so. Start a conversation with him/her about this aspect of the Gospel and you will be able to witness how his/her understanding of this beautiful message grows! Thank you so much for wanting to cultivate a love for the Gospel in the life of your children. It would bring us so much joy to learn that the Gospel in advancing in the hearts of others, transforming them and sculpting them to the image of our Savior. Because there is a better story, J & L
