These include failure of health, loss of property, and loss of a family member among many others. Some other trying circumstances include denial of a spouse, denial of a child, and struggling to get a decent living. These, if not well handled, may cause protracted pain and sorrow of the heart thereby denying us the much-needed peace.Nevertheless, we are not of those that fall away when faced with trials that shake the foundations of our faith as the warning in Hebrews 6:4-8. “But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation…” Hebrews 6:9. We will hold on to our faith even when good health eludes, children are denied us, there is no spouse coming our way and we are aging, and the portals of death are opened: We will hold on to God as Nehemiah did in reply to his enemies' suggestions to flee for his life and hide in the temple: “Should such a man as I flee?” Nehemiah 6:11.
