Regardless, Homer discovers that he has other strengths which make him just as precious as the other dogs, and he lives a very fulfilling life! The author is a Special Education Teacher and is accustomed to helping children identify their strengths and use them to assist in areas of need. Homer's story teaches children that we are not all good at everything, but we are very good at some things. It encourages children not to be discouraged when they fail, but to look for what they do well and develop those skills. We all have something to contribute, and although we are not equal, we are all equally important !
