Harriosn Oliver or as he was commonly known, H.O., was a always on the go. He was the second son of Wm. T. and like all second sons he was competitive albeit not always successful. He had big shoes to fill his dad was a tall six foot four inches, a guy to look up to in more ways than one. His older brother, the first born, was a successful loose leaf tobacco dealer, the largest one in America. Yes the boots didn't fit very well. His grandfather Elijah was a successful large land and Black Slave owner and his father had done well serving the South in the Civil War. For a while, he stuck close to his father and ran a quarter section dairy farm next to his father's farm North of Lee Summit, Missouri in Jackson County. He delivered milk and cream to customers and often to kids along with him. It wasn't long before he ran into the love of his life Matilda (Mattie) Perdue. The problem was that Matty's dad had a big farm with a lot of kids and his wife had passed away. Thinking of the economics of his situation, he didn't want any outside interests stepping in. Mattie and H.O. were in love with each other however and ran off to get married. Her father, Mr. Perdue reacted, disowned her and later remarried a young woman after his wife had passed away. I guess he couldn't stand the stress and he passed away later. The young woman that he had married was understanding and made sure that Mattie received an inheritance along with the other Perdue kids. That inheritance money was used to buy the Breezy Hill Farm.
