Heat of a Thousands Suns is a short book of poetry from myself to my fiancé and future wife. I will be presenting this book to her on Christmas as a gift from me to her and her family. This book will be a journey about my life in a hybrid writing style. That speaks to the past traumas I've gone through in my life and the experiences of God saving me from the life that I could've lived but God pointed me in a different direction. The poems are somewhat all over the place in terms of logic, but the approach has to be from a clear mind and clear heart from each reader to understand the rhythm and flow in which each poem was written. The name of the book came from what my fiancé wrote to me on a birthday card for my 24th birthday and she said "I love you like the heat of a thousand suns. That made me know that she was my wife because I knew how much heat that was. However I want her to know about how fortunate I am to have her based upon the jungle that I went through to get to this side of life and love. Through a lot of prayer and fasting this book has come about. She watched me write a lot of it but the surprise is she doesn't know it'll be a book that's coming so soon. I also had the opportunity to debut my first writing works this past fall in my mentors book called "Why Jermaine?" Which is a memoir from my mentor that reflects his life and the many testimonials of people who he has helped reach their full potential. So I wanted to embark on a journey to continue my writing career starting my first book to my fiancé and future wife. I'd like to describe the poems in the book as like a gumbo straight from the Louisiana Bayou or a homemade chicken noodle soup that my great grandmother would make in Harlem with the gigantic chicken bones inside the broth. Some of it may be mind bending and you may lack understanding based upon how you were raised or the region of where you live but as the word of God says, "everything works together for His good." God gave me the gift of writing and I knew this was my gift ever since I was a child. I always knew I would write a book since I was a child. Growing up my father wrote songs and would have notebooks on top of notebooks of songs that he wrote and when I was a kid I couldn't read it too well but I would spend time in his thoughts and his thought process. So I took up poetry at a young age and didn't know where my journey would begin. I was just committed to reading for legibility and practice writing to enhance my gift that God blessed me with. So for 24 years I would write but I didn't have a reason to write. So I finally found a reason that was bigger than me, my fiancé. She was my why and my purpose of writing a book. She was with me when I was writing my piece for "Why Jermaine," and literally inspired me to write my first book. So this book is a testament to favor with God. So as a reader don't expect anything just read and be filled with love, joy, happiness, kindness, and favor. Through this experience of writing, I've had visions of myself performing these poems on some of the biggest stages around the world in a clash of poetry and theater where a true story is being told like Hamilton on steroids. A true love story that's magical and connected in faith. Through my writing I just hope people can see and witness that God has a plan for us all.
