I visited the Holy Land for 3 months in 1995, for a year in 1996-1997, and a couple of weeks in 2000 and 2006. I spent most of this time working with the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Palestinian Department of Antiquities and the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem. In 1997 I created a number of in-situ representational pastel drawings on paper and acrylic paintings. At the time I also made a series of abstract expressionist paintings in holy sites (see example at the end). In 2020 I revisited a selection of these works in my own original expressive style exploring line and colour. To put my story in words is another book. So here is my story, in pictures. I hope it is a story that speaks to you. Anthony David Padgett - April 2020
