The Executive announced on 29 September 2011 that there would be an investigation and inquiry into historical institutional abuse. The Inquiry into Historical Institutional Abuse Bill (NIA 7/11-15) (the Bill) was introduced to the Assembly on 12 June 2012 and referred to the Committee for the Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister for consideration. The Committee has agreed its Report on the Inquiry into Historical Institutional Abuse Bill, with suggested amendments and recommendations. The Bill will be brought back to the Assembly by OFMDFM for the Consideration Stage when amendments can be proposed and debated.
