He has been an advocate against modern day slavery, genocide in Sudan, sweatshops and child labor.James has written a book on U.S. History, Global History, the U.S. Presidents, four Children's books, and eight books of poetry and anecdotes. In 2010, Mr. Geist's students said, "Mr. Geist, you have so many funny stories, you should write a book." When Geist hit age 50, he began writing. As a fan of American poet Charles Bukowski, he tries to follow the advice of Bukowski which is, "Keep it short, and keep it interesting."
