"My mother, Patti Bright, once handed me a detached boat steering wheel so I could pretend to drive from the back seat. As we drove around town, I mimicked my mother's every move; turning the wheel left and right and pretending to push the gas and the break. My mom would also pretend to be an airline pilot for me and my friends, as well as a taxi driver. The creativity of my childhood was endless, thanks to my mom. We often went on long dog walks to the creek to find frogs. Sometimes, we skipped and sang together. I went from painting pine cones to painting a mural on my bedroom wall, to becoming a Fine Arts and Illustration major in college. When I became a mother, I wanted to give my daughter a similar upbringing. In this digital age, we can sometimes get distracted from that pure creativity and togetherness of the past. It is my hope that this book will serve as a fun reminder of the types of things we can do with our children...to interact and to work together as a team. Keep on pretending!"
