Description

Use this book to practise correcting misheard words and phrases Lip Reading can be ambiguous and what the lips appear to be saying is not always correct. That is why, when attempting to interpret lip movements, the lip-reader needs to take other clues into account, and to judge what makes sense in that particular context. This book of puzzles is intended to give practice in doing just that by turning nonsense text in to meaningful dialogue. The book contains fifty short passages of text that do not make sense. The "misheard" words are printed in BOLD and the user is invited to exchange these words for others that look the same to the lip-reader and also make sense in that context. Each puzzle requires about ten exchanges and the solutions are printed overleaf so that the user can check if they got it right. The subjects are mainly about unusual animals or birds but a few other more general subjects have been included. The user is also invited to use a mirror to check how closely the exchanged words and phrase resemble each other.
