Description

The story of the trip to Jerusalem and Jesus in the temple, retold by Jennifer Rees Larcombe and illustrated by Steve Bjorkman for the BEST BIBLE STORIES SERIES. The whole village of Nazareth had gone to the temple for the great feast. Mary and Joseph were happy to see Jesus having fun with the rest of the crowd. When the holiday came to an end and they were busy packing to come home again, Jesus went to say goodbye to the temple. All the famous teachers were there quarrelling with each other about God. Jesus asked them a question that was so hard none of them could answer it. All day long they fired questions at him and he answered them all. They were amazed. Mary and Joseph thought Jesus must be walking with his friends and relatives as they set off home, but when they stopped for the night they realised he must be lost. They rushed back to Jerusalem and searched desperately for him. Finally they found him in the temple with a crowd gathered round him. They knew he had come to work for his real Father, God, but Mary pleaded with him to come back with them to Nazareth for a little longer. Nobody in the village guessed his secret as he grew up to be a fine carpenter, but everybody loved him.
