Reading Olson's performance, I show how it is simultaneously productive and reproductive--situated within an institution he helped to form, yet compelled into new acts of emergence. Chapter Two returns to the originary moment of Olson and Creeley's collaboration in order to trace the development of their distinctive "stance" out of their complex relationship to the concept of professionalism as well as to different professions--from cultural anthropology to publishing.
