Marine Biologist Scott Blake is an impulsive surfer plagued with low self-esteem. He's discovered a species of plastic-eating plankton, but is distracted by a god-like surfer and visions of an underwater city and portal to space. His girlfriend, Brooke Stephani, doesn't believe Scott, but Peter Christianson does; Scott's amicable lab assistant. The god-like being is Xero Nekton, the leader of the Hürantåns who have been here for millennia, masquerading as gods since days of antiquity. Xero is furious with humankind for its treatment of the environment, fouling the oceans and atmosphere. Scott, Pete and Brooke are brought to Hürantå, a huge marine planet in the Jergarcian galaxy, where they must accept their fate along with other specimens from other eras in the Globular Reserve Park. Using the story as the backdrop, Marine Space is a timely comment on the environment and pollution, of which Both Xero and Scott are deeply concerned, though they chose to address the world's problems in vastly different ways. It is an exciting, lighthearted, funny, and sometimes dark, romp through the galaxy that you will not be able to put down as Scott battles his way to reconcile himself with the choices he's made.
