Cut out of both parents' Wills, dropped out of an expensive Jewish High School that I was given a free scholarship to attend, accused by my elderly, sick mother of trying to take her home from her, rejected, abused and blamed time and again by both parents and their relatives, became an Atheist, became a Rock 'n' Roll Musician with long hair, married a non-Jew, didn't have children, became a Psychologist - a dirty words in the eyes of my mother and some of her Romanian family, became estranged from both parents and other relatives, didn't visit my mother at her nursing home when she had advanced stages of Alzheimer's even once, didn't attend her death bed when advised of her severe pneumonia, didn't attend her funeral, didn't say kaddish nor have I once visited her grave stone. All true. I guess that makes me the black sheep of the "family" although I don't see it that way. It's not a family. You can't call it that. It's a false family as I will soon explain. Nor do I see myself as the black sheep but that's obviously a matter of perspective and hard to shake when your own mother's poisonous tongue has such a far and indelible reach. Get thrown under the bus enough times and it becomes a familiar place. Have enough mud thrown at you and some of it will stick, as the saying goes.So, what have I got to say for myself then? Where to begin? It's a long story. I'm not in the business of making excuses. Firstly, I am not in need of being excused by anybody. The recalling of the history, my memoirs, and the following explanations are about documenting the facts, connecting the dots and exposing the truth. It's about empowerment and justice for the sake of closure, not excuses. And closure for the sake of taking control of your life and starting over again. And again. And again ...
