This does not mean that New Zealand has no hope of rectifying sustainable practices. To the contrary, these findings show that New Zealand could address sustainable development by collating all current ad hoc practices and developing them into a strategy. [...] Together history and morality make sustainability the key challenge of this century. The entire world is in search of a solution to the threats of losing natural resources and increasing injustices. To participate New Zealand must change its present approach to economics and financial affairs from our current unsustainable method to a method of ‘ecological capitalism’. Ecological capitalism is strong form sustainability; based on a completely different underlying set of values and ethics, and involving major shifts in human behaviour. New Zealand should follow a path to strong sustainability just as many other countries are doing. A NSDS will lead New Zealand towards strong forms of sustainability. Ultimately this is the only true path to enduring ecological and human survival"--Conclusion.
