Every Christmas when the wind spins the snow around like a top, and fuses with the scent of fresh Pine, Kurt Purcell remembers the first time he met Andrea Wilson. It was at a Christmas party and it was love at first sight. Of Body and Soul, is the story of Andrea Wilson, an artist, who has found her ideal man in Kurt Purcell. Kurt, a journalist, is intelligent, devoted and mysterious. But unknown to Andrea, Kurt is scarred by memories of an abusive father and doesn't want children. Nine months after they're married, their love is ripped apart, when Andrea announces that they are going to have a baby. Unable to accept the news, Kurt pleads with her to have an abortion. When Andrea refuses to abort their child, he walks out on her. Filled with terror and grief, Andrea tries to understand what has happened. Humiliated, she calls a friend and asks if she can stay with her for a couple of weeks until she can decide what to do. On her way to her friend's house, Andrea has a car accident. She is severely injured and brought to the hospital in a coma. When the police track down Kurt and inform him of the situation, he rushes to her side. After days by her bedside, she awakes only to think that Kurt is her nurse. It becomes clear that she has no memory. During months of recuperation, Andrea realizes she's pregnant and wants to know what happened to her and why. Torn between deceit and uncertainty, Kurt seeks help with a physiatrist who shows him that he is not his father, but a man who is deeply in love with his wife and unborn child. Knowing that he must tell Andrea that he is her husband, he waits for the right opportunity. When the opportunity happens on a day trip to Sante Fe and they get caught in a snow storm, he knows for certain that Andrea has fallen in love with him. They spend the night making love and during this time, her memory comes back fast and furious.
