A week ago Peter woke up to a world that was exactly the same as he had woken up to every morning of his life - except it was completely different. It was utterly devoid of people, or so he thought. And things got stranger from there. Peter found himself dealing with an irrepressible urge compelling him to leave his long-time home - to where, he did not know. He just knew he had to find an unknown "somewhere". In his travels he came across a pup that he named Pepper, and found out that he was not alone in this near-empty world. He learned some of those people that still inhabited the planet may be better avoided. Oh, but others were not! Debra and her bird, Bird, came along one morning. They were drawn together like magnets. Debra has an ability to astral-project, which leads to some answers - and many more questions. The two met up with a pair of brothers and the four teamed up. The humans and animals all seemed to have an odd connection, even though they were all very different. When they finally found their "somewhere" it turned out to be a huge and mysterious mansion. Logic would tell them this was where they were to settle down and try to live as normal a life as they could. Join them as they learn that normal will never "be" again. Excerpts From Book 2: The expression on Debra's face was a pained attempt not to burst out in giggles. Jacob was not so considerate. He was nearly falling out of his chair in a fit. Apparently the ability to laugh aloud had long since alluded him and he was now wracked with soundless guffaws. Caleb, with batter dripping from the top of his head, looked at Peter with pleading eyes. "Help," he begged, Trying to argue silently, slinging hands and looks, Peter followed Debra across the huge sitting room. Debra looked through the etched glass running along either side of the doors and turned to Peter. "It's a girl!" she whispered, "Oh my God," Debra breathed when she saw the array of coloring on the girl's face, neck and arms. Peter was certain by the look on Debra's face that had she been the one with the gun, the assailants would have lost more than an earlobe. They heard a loud rumbling and Peter had to make a decision whether they should hide or stand their ground. He knew it was futile to try to order Debra to hide, but he turned to Early and snapped, "Get her out of here." Early didn't have to be told what he meant and she didn't have to be told twice. She grabbed Breezy and they ran full out for the door. Peter caught him just in time to prevent a repeat of previous events. "JACOB!" he screamed, As her fingers touched his hands she grinned back to him, showing diamond daggers that were her teeth. They were sharp and cruel. It was plain she could be a very dangerous little being. "What in blazes are these things?" he asked, gingerly pulling out the multi-colored contents. He held up a slimy, sparkling, - and purple - rubber worm and looked at it accusingly. "I don't remember leaving that there," Debra murmured. It invoked memories of the black podium and the fact that some inanimate object was capable of "remembering" her. Nothing made her feel easy about the whole thing.
