Inigo Jones is a regular 11 year old school boy. He cycles to St.Grimbald's High, he hates mathematics and he is teased mercilessly about the red woollen mittens his Nan knitted for him. But then Omily Topatus appears after an absence of over two years and his life changes forever. Inego had almost completely forgotten about Omily Topatus; the tiny little man with wild hair and a mischievous face whom he'd once mistaken for the tooth fairy. Omily came and went through a little door in Inigo's bedroom which no-one else - not even a master locksmith - could open. From the age of five and for many years, Inigo believed Omily was his imaginary friend, partly because that's what Omily told him. Now, though, it's a different story. But if Omily isn't a figment of the boy's imagination, what and who is he? And what is he doing with Inigo's red woollen mittens? The answer to those questions leads to an audacious bullion robbery but along the way Inigo Jones saves a school friend from a giant doughnut, becomes a local hero and discovers that his mittens have been transformed by elven magic into a pair of Chaos Gauntlets, imbued with extraordinary powers. Can he help Omily escape the clutches of an evil trollish crime syndicate, foil a major gold heist and get his not-so-imaginary friend back home before being grounded for the rest of his natural life?
