A perturbation package written in the computer algebra language Maple is presented. This package can be used to solve layer-type problems and secular problems defined by second order ordinary differential equations with a small parameter. We use two singular perturbation methods, the method of matched asymptotic expansion using the Van Dyke Matching principle for solving the linear second order differential equations whose highest derivative is multiplied by a small parameter, and the renormalization technique for nonlinear second order ODEs in which secular terms appear. The perturbation package consists of only a few procedures. On-line help is also provided. Users of the package need only enter the problem in the notation required by Maple, and output is automatically presented. The package offers one command unifexp for the users who only want to use the package as a black box and several other commands for those who need more information about the problems or who want to start computation from some intermediate results. In this thesis we discuss both implemented methods and provide details for the procedures in Maple.
