In Rare Earth, Luke Dodge buys an albacore jig boat, the Wonder Lust. His plan is to fish for tuna all the way to New Zealand.During the journey to the offshore Fracture Zone, Luke uncovers clues about the Wonder Lust's previous owner, Frank Laponce. Luke finds that Frank was the long lost grand son of Howard Hughes and tied to the 1970's CIA backed Project Azorion; where they raised a sunken Soviet Submarine, the K-127 under cover of deep sea mining for rare earths. In present day, the deep sea minerals are heavily fought over in an undersea clandestine war that involves the Chinese and eco-extremist Rainbow Pristine. The Chinese defend their miner claims as they swat entire fleets form sea by weaponizing nature.Floating above the undersea conflict, Luke simply wants to troll his jigs and fill the Wander Lust with albacore tuna. Luke is sucked into a whirlwind of battling nations while his past and present lovers stand at the helm of opposing ships and submarines.
