How is it that a scrawny kid who grew up on a small Indiana farm during America's Great Depression is able to celebrate his eightieth birthday with friends while living in Europe? The odyssey begins in township schools, wends its way through four years in the Navy, which is then followed by a B.S. degree from Indiana University. Now with a wife and children, he begins his professional career in California with an eventual supervisory role with the company that built the Apollo spacecraft. In time, he follows opportunities in New York that lead to a management role with an oil company in Rockefeller Center and then international responsibilities with a basic metals company on Wall Street. Divorced and raising two sons, the road takes him through a partnership in an executive search business and, following his move to rural Massachusetts, real estate operations. With a new wife, he relocates to South Texas and has a position as a bank officer before moving to Barcelona where he's introduced to the satisfying experience of life as an ex-patriot. Settling in Luxembourg for twenty-four years gives him ample time to explore the world of computers, begin writing fiction (www.rmgibson.com), and also traveling widely across the continent while keeping his ties with family and friends at home in the U.S. This is the life story of that guy-who also calls himself the kid from Jefferson Township.
