So many Christians live defeated lives because they think that it is their responsibility to live the Christian life. Even Jesus did not live by his own strength. Though he was Son of God, he did not call upon his own nature as God(Phil. 2:5-7) but lived out of relationship with the Father (John 14:10) and the power of the Holy Spirit(Luke 3:21,22). We are to do the same. We are called and privileged to to live the Christian life by the life of Christ who resides is every believer by the Holy Spirit. In this way we can enjoy a wonderful relationship with the Trinity and have an abundant life as Christ lives our lives for and in us(Gal. 2:20).Excerpt: "Jesus has promised us an overflowing, victorious life (John 10:10). Many Christians want to know where it is! Trying to get it certainly doesn't work! When we try we place the emphasis on us and how we are doing. It is a human-centered approach that is bound to fail. Jesus, said, "I came...". The emphasis is on Him-the God of the universe. He gives the abundant life. So it starts with grace and it ends with grace (John 1:16). Grace is something you receive-not try and get. It is a gift. Eternal life is a quality as well as a quantity. It is free. Accept God's free offer of salvation by receiving Christ and it is yours. Sanctification is free also. So we must take our eyes off of ourselves and look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2). We come to Him and drink (John 4:14,7:37,38). The result is an overflowing life. What you take in, takes you. When I drink something it is in me, for better or for worse. If it is poison, it is over. Outside of difficult procedures, I'm dead. But if I drink vitamin juice, it brings me better life. By faith I drink it and then it does its work. No need for me to worry about it! It is in me doing its work. So it is with Christ and the life He offers. When we take Him in, we take His life in and He starts to do His work. We can rest."
