To begin with, I was born in the State of Kerala, India. My autobiography, "My Life, Faith and Family" was already published in 2014 (Amazon.com). Early on, I was interested in teaching abroad. After the high school years, my blossoming desire gradually began to bear fruits during my undergraduate studies inspired and encouraged by of a few of my college professors. I followed the directions of those professors and worked hard to attain a degree in undergraduate studies. After an unsuccessful attempt to pursue postgraduate studies, I taught at a private and government college for almost two years. During those years, I developed good teaching acumen. I began to enjoy teaching those young inquisitive minds. Although it was difficult and not easy, I gained the respect of my students. While teaching at the government college, an opportunity knocked on my door to take up a teaching job overseas, Kenya, East Africa. While teaching at a girls secondary school in Kenya, another path opened for me, and subsequently in 1968, I immigrated to Canada and worked as a junior lecturer in Biology for an year and at the end of which I secured admission at a reputable university in Canada. After two years, I earned a postgraduate degree in Statistical Ecology, and a teacher's certificate in environmental studies from the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. Upon graduation I was appointed Professor in Biology/Biotechnology at Fanshawe College, London, Ontario, Canada. While at the college I had the occasion to publish several scientific papers in ecology, a book on sustainable development; and have been a regular contributor to the local newspapers in various issues. Since my retirement in 2008, I have been a visiting professor at five colleges in Kerala. Between 1974 and 2008, I was the program manager and a Board member of a London based charity. After resigning from the charity, I founded a registered charity, Village Education and Development Society (VEDS) with both the Canadian and US governments. VEDS has been providing funding for nursing education for poor deserving village teen girls and for locally viable developmental projects for poor women in selected villages of Kerala, India. Because of Mathew's altruism, he was chosen as the Citizen One in 2009 by the local newspaper, the London Free Press. I have been married to Mary and we were blessed with three daughters: Maisy, a graduate in biology and mechanical engineering (UWO), Maxine, electrical engineering (UWO), and Melissa, graduate in Math and philosophy (UWO), and MBA (University of Phoenix). Their respective spouses are Andrew (CA), Alan (a graduate in biology and MBA), and Anil (Physician, Royal Air Force, UK). I have eight grandchildren: Mikhaila, Maiya, Jacob, Joshua, Brooke, Jonah, Marietta, Caleb, and Matthew.
