The Purpose Of This Book "Climate Change may be the most inexorable catastrophe the human species has ever faced." Harvard Magazine Nov 2020* The purpose of this book is to wake you up, to alert you, to agitate you, to alarm you into action. That action is massive political pressure to force Congress to act in a massive way rarely seen before. Our mobilization of the Second World War was small compared to the global changes in the energy sector and agriculture required now. As much as individuals are willing to change their lifestyle, reducing their energy consumption is insignificant. Individual energy conservation, wide use of photovoltaic on massive scales are insufficient. We have close to eight billion people on Earth. We burn so much fossil fuel collectively, emitting yearly some 35 billion tons of greenhouse gases (GHG); it is beyond our comprehension. The higher energy-consuming nations on Earth, China, the USA, Europe, and those who decimate massive forests, must make the sacrifices mandatory for change. We need global governmental laws for a massive reduction in fossil fuel consumption all across the globe. The current energy transformation from fossil to green energies is negligible and too slow to improve global climate's we must achieve. If we buy a million electric cars, will we cut significantly the one hundred million gallons of oil used GLOBALLY DAILY? No. We can accomplish the required enormous change only on an international scale. All the major emitting countries sacrifice a noticeable reduction of living standards by drastically cutting this massive fossil fuel use. What is this massive, existential threat humanity facing? Why the urgency? Simply, our burning of an enormous amount of fossil fuels, coal, oil, and natural gas, is thickening the natural blanket covering our little globe. That action increases the air temperatures worldwide, thus increasing aridity, generating massive deserts, and reducing water supplies to millions, which is already happening. Huge forest fires, melting of the North pole ice summer cover, melting of significant portions of the gigantic Greenland snow cover, the breaking of Antarctica frozen continent into state-size mountains of ice sliding from land into the water, increasing ocean levels. The melting of the Himalayas mountain glaciers that supply water to hundreds of millions of Chinese and Indians. Where will they get the water then? China and India are already having military scrimmages on their shared border. The Chinees would not let anyone risk their massive nation. And they can defeat India with ease and are on their way to have the strongest military force in the world. We burn millions of trees in the Amazon and Southeast Asia to clear land for commercial use. WE have to stop that as soon as possible. We must change the old way of international competition since we are in it together and must cut GHG emissions worldwide, or there will be only minimal impact. We can not make a difference in the USA alone since we emit some 15% of global GHG. China is emitting the most. It is nearly impossible to reduce their citizens' desire for a continuous increase in living standards, which means a larger fossil fuel consumption. India has a population close to that of China, with some one a half billion people without power increasing its GHG emissions despite the effort to use massive PV systems and wind energy. There is no time to be patient, be polite, and discuss it at length in Congress or the Chinese and Indians governing bodies. The atmosphere is getting hotter continuously, and we are in increasing danger. ***************
