Description

This issue of Seminarch is devoted to the seminar Scape. The title refers to the growing number of variations on landscape (townscape, cloudscape, soundscape, zoomscape, and you name it), with the implicit connotation of escape. Students analyzed the images of the cities of Rome (particularly Piranesi's vedute) and Eindhoven, and visited Ghent, where Karel Wuytack guided us through the historical centre and explained how it was radically renovated in the 19th c. to achieve a gothic look, erasing classical buildings. Students reflected on the image of Eindhoven and produced their own 'veduta' intended for the Dutch Design Week.
