J'nell and one of her partners, Major Lampton, defend her childhood friend, Qujette Barbarette, against the charge of murder. J'nell sees all four of her children married and making her a grandmother. She continues to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. In the process, she takes on several large corporations, and to her mother's chagrin, the Catholic Church. Upon her retirement, she surprises her family and the legal world with a best-selling novel that eventually becomes a major mini-series. Her success is soured when the granddaughter of an old nemesis sues her for slander. Through it all, J'nell never loses her faith in God and gives all the glory to HIM. In her golden years, J'nell reflects on her many accomplishments, all the people who floated in and out of her life, the many lifelong friendships she made, and the fact she had few regrets about her life. At the end, she is happy to know she will be reunited with all those loved ones who went before her.
