When we fall in love we essentially give up some of the essence of ourselves to become one with the person we couldn't help falling in love with. Jeffrey Hall blindly fell in love with Georgia Fulton the first time they met, and willingly gave up some of the essence of himself to her; she did the same and they shared a loving, committed marriage that lasted for over 35 years. Though she was known for her ability to deal with and eventually overcome nearly every problem or obstacle in her life, when Alzheimer's disease chose Jeffrey as its victim, Georgia became a victim also. It crashed in on them like a tornado, eventually stealing nearly all of the essence of Jeffrey over a period of time, leaving Georgia with overwhelming feelings of guilt that she couldn't do more to ease her husband's suffering. She worried constantly whether or not she could have done more sooner to help him. Fortunately, she had the help and support of her daughter Gwendolyn, and her sister Carole Driscoll, who had come into her life as an adopted sister when she was 10. Carole Driscoll is nothing much like her trusting sister Georgia, but she has her own redeeming qualities that allows others to overlook her shortcomings. In all her relationships with men Carole has been unfaithful, practicing what she called her Plan B philosophy, which was merely a safety net that allowed her to keep a spare man at the ready in case a relationship failed suddenly. Well into her third marriage, Carole realizes that she is truly in love for the first time in her life, but not with her current husband. Though different in their personalities and many views on life in general, these two early-senior citizens each have a different life adventure with the loves of their lives, Alzheimer's disease and infidelity notwithstanding.
