My name is Hazel. I'm seventeen years old and have never seen another person other than my fifteen year old sister, my mother and my father. We have lived in the wild since before I was born, long after the wars that tore my country apart. What was America is now a wasteland of violence and destruction. Our country has been torn in half by the government, creating two sectors to ease the war and violence, the sectors titled A and B. A tattoo on the neck of each citizen identified the sector to which each belonged, one line for sector A and two lines for Sector B. Two governments, two presidents, two different countries. It didn't work. They fought each other until there was nothing left. Now all that remains are the rebels and the independents. My parents escaped as children and have trained my sister and I as soldiers from the moment we could walk. Every day we trained in all the ways of killing and surviving in this desolate place. Though we are surrounded by war, it has never touched our peaceful little place on the water. Until now.They are coming. They will hunt us down. They will kill us if they catch us. We must head south if we want to survive.All of my training has come down to this moment. My father always told me, 'Nothing is worth doing if you never intend to finish it.' Well, I intend to finish it. I intend to survive. Out here it is 'kill or be killed' everyday, every moment. I don't plan on getting killed.Sectors is a trilogy in the dystopian genre. It contains violence and possibly triggering topics.
