Hope Unborn, Unborn, Unborn is a non-fiction book in which the writer seeks to illustrate issues of racism in the past, and currently in Major League Baseball. Some of these issues are well known and documented; however, some of these issues have never before been addressed, or explored. It has been said, "baseball is a reflective microcosm of our society." In Hope, Unborn, Unborn, Unborn I sought, through the eyes of baseball history, to utilize a descriptive and informative language, historical facts, and my personal experiences to educate the reader on racism in sports and baseball in particular. My wife Rubye inspired the title of this book. It is taken from the Negro National Anthem Lift Every Voice And Sing" which was written at my alma mater, Florida Memorial College by James Weldon Johnson. A part of a verse in the song states that "Hope Unborn has died," which carries the full compliments of the book's intentions.
