Rediscover the Holy Spirit Hidden in the Hebrew text of the Holy Bible, we discover the name Shiva as the name for the Holy Spirit. Truly, God has not left Himself without a testimony in India, but has given fragments of the true faith to this great subcontinent. Just as the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Christian Trinity, Shiva is the third member of the Hindu Trinity, and being the Param Atma, or 'Pure Consciousness', Shiva is defined as the Holy Spirit. Moreover, just as God came down in a Pillar of Fire over mount Sinai, and wrote His Word on two stones, Shiva came as a Pillar of Fire and wrote his word AUM on two stones, Linga and Yoni. However, there are crucial differences, for when God revealed Himself to Moses, His Law forbid idolatry and mythology, and He identified Himself as the God of Israel, who Created heaven and earth. For this reason, while we find interesting connections, there are vast differences as well. For example, the Holy Spirit is called the Sevenfold Spirit in Revelation 1:4 (NLT), and the NIV Study Bible offers a footnote, saying, "Seven...is another name for the Holy Spirit." However, Satan becomes a serpent of seven heads in Revelation 12, and this serpent is seen on the Hindu idols of Shiva. Thus, while Satan counterfeits and corrupts the things of God, Jesus is the Lamb with "seven eyes" (Rev 5:6), as the treasures of his kingdom are hidden in all the world, if only we discern fact from fiction and fix what the forces of darkness have distorted.
