In his bold debut novel, the author deals with the life of modern man: Harried, forced into tight living environments and latently misanthropic, he is leading an anonymous life in an anonymous city. But then one evening, he commits four murders, and his life is unexpectedly exposed to the searchlight of publicity. The author cunningly builds this story, albeit profane in principle, into something bigger. Why, there is even the occasional spark of humour. Nonetheless, this does not deprive his story of its oppressive effect in the least, an effect resulting from the realistic portrayal of our living conditions. Be it Eyes open! or the Blink, the framework of his story are well known - yet, the possible consequences of a life within these confines may not be known to everyone.Accordingly, this story about the Stagefright, this first act called "Backyard", is worthwhile for all of those interested in the opportunities and ethics of technology, as well as music lovers everywhere, who cannot lead their lives without the obligatory mental soundtrack. And just to make for a bit of provocation, a little sex and violence are in evidence. They are always a favourite with the audience, after all.But now enough of the introductory words. If you have read up until this point, chances are that this story of the author will appeal to you. Therefore, clear the stage for the first act.- A.L.H., The Examiner
