Gladys always looked smart and clean but Doris was nearly always dirty and a bit scruffy. From the Granchildren's imaginative ideas about these two chickens Alan decided to write some adventures for both of them. The Grandchildren are now all grown up but still always ask about Gladys and her friend, and indeed still like to read the stories. It was then that Alan thought that maybe other children would like to read about Gladys' adventures. So here they are, we hope you like them.
