James Dabney McCabe, Jr. (1842-1883) was an American author. He was born in Richmond, Virginia. McCabe was the son of James D. McCabe, an Episcopal clergyman and editor. Educated at Virginia Military Institute, McCabe spent the war period writing plays. He wrote several hundred short stories, essays, poems, and translations. He also wrote under the pseudonyms An Ex-Cadet, Edward Winslow Martin and A Southerner. His works include: The Life of Lieut. Gen. T. J.
