This is an ode to the humble drapery rod and its history in great art. For over 25 years I have enjoyed designing and manufacturing window hardware and collecting antique hardware. I founded The Antique Drapery Rod Company Inc. in 1992 and founded Grace Hardware Company in 2008 (exclusive to the trade). And as with all obsessions, drapery rods seem to be everywhere. Many of the artworks and architectural settings in this book I have experienced first hand in my travels to over 50 countries. Included in this book are references to the period hardware and textiles and contemporary sources to recreate these historic drapery treatments today. Also included are suggestions of music that was enjoyed in the period of each piece of art. This enables you to expand your historic and artistic experience of the almost ever present drapery rod.
