"The Auction" is the second of three in the Five Cousin Series. The story is about five cousins that attend an auction to try to pick up an old treasure. They accidentally win the bid on a painting of John Hancock when the main character Matt was really just trying to swat at a moth that was flying circles around his cousin Julie. They later discover that the real treasure is hidden behind the painting (The Declaration of Independence). They make arrangements to return the document and get to meet the President of the United States who awards them each with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Although fictional, "The Auction" includes some historical tidbits that leave the reader intrigued and proud. The story entertains you and the detailed illustrations by Artist Dale Devendorf make it seem very believable.
