Description

In June 1982 with the Argentine forces defeated in the Falklands disgraced Italian banker Roberto Calvi is found hanging from scaffolding under Blackfriars Bridge in London with thousands of pounds stuffed in his pockets. Known widely as Gods Banker due to his close ties with The Vatican he had been on the run for three days as his bank collapsed with millions of dollars missing. Thirty years later the deaths of two British men in Rome, Father Nick Bale and journalist Tom Davies, once again spark interest into the machinations of Calvi and The Vatican. Investigator Gianfranco Molinari finds himself immersed in a murky world of corrupt geo-political power-brokers, politicians, bankers and clergy where his closest ally is a playboy gangster. The arrival of Alex Bale, the grief stricken priest's brother intent on revenge, only complicates Molinari`s investigation. Threatened by the sinister Orsini from Italy's AISE Molinari juggles the investigation with his own chaotic life. Alex Bale becomes an uncontrollable force as he races around Europe intent on tracing the hired assassin Arlo Negri via the shadowy underworld facilitator known as The Belgian. The first murder, mystery and suspense thriller from author Sean Buckley in the Ereptio Crime & Conspiracy Series is a "fast-paced thriller with plenty of twists and turns". The achingly cool investigator Gianfranco Molinari gets drawn into investigating the death of a British Priest posted to the Vatican. At times the storyline is intriguing and switches constantly so that you are unsure if you are reading a, psychological thriller or a crime thriller. The plot shifts from one country to the next quite seamlessly so categorizing it as an international crime thriller would be understandable. However, this book is much more than that, there is enough in the plot to label it as an action and adventure thriller, thriller, crime fiction thriller, police thriller, political thriller, legal thriller, hard-boiled thriller, espionage thriller or simply as a spy thriller. The author references MI5, MI6 and the CIA along with a whole host of other agencies including Interpol and one that I wasn`t aware of Europol. I am looking forward to the next full book that I believe is called Quorum. I`ve read the two Calvi Continuance novellas, "The Calvi Continuance: Alex Bale and The Calvi Continuance; Arlo Negri" and what little the author has released via social media and it looks like another geo-political thriller is on the way. One excerpt that I read hinted at it being some kind of Nazi crime or conspiracy thriller but after reading this book I suspect that it will be much more than that. The author has a very good grasp of current affairs so no doubt it will be a conspiracy theory thriller, or international conspiracy thriller. From what I`ve read by Buckley I expect it to be stylish, dark at times but well written with the kind of occasional touch of humour that so often occurs in real life but is so often missing in thrillers. It will also be interesting to see how Molinari`s relationship with the Italian Justice Minister Antonia Ginosa develops as this fractious relationship led to some comical scenes in The Calvi Parallax. So this is what I expect from the next book. It like this one could be a Nazi conspiracy thriller, organized crime thriller, mafia thriller, mafia hitman thriller, mafia assassination thriller, financial thriller, international financial thriller, financial crime thriller, international financial crime thriller, banker conspiracy thriller, G8 conspiracy thriller, G20 Conspiracy thriller, G7 conspiracy thriller, an illuminati conspiracy thriller, a masonic conspiracy thriller, masons conspiracy thriller, da vinci conspiracy thriller, illuminati crime thriller, masonic crime thriller, Vatican conspiracy thriller, catholic conspiracy thriller, graphene conspiracy thriller, technology conspiracy thriller, terrorist thriller, IS terrorist but above all a great book, #Amazon, #
