After a young teen in Detroit gets in trouble with the law, he is given a choice to either straighten up or go to prison for a long time. Knowing that prison was not the life he wanted for himself, he decided to find a job, to help keep him out of trouble and away from his old running buddies. While out job hunting, he finds a job at Wally's Automotive Repair Shop. After working at Wally's for a while, Robert soon comes to discover that he liked learning about cars and how they worked and their designs. Once Wally meets Robert, he quickly takes a likening to him, even treating him as though he was his very own son. After Robert's mom dies, Wally adopts Robert and gives him a share of his business; but by then, Robert is excelling at everything. He ends up graduating from both high school and college a valedictorian, something that surprised Robert and pleased Wally greatly. After graduating from college, Robert returned home, only to turn Wally & Son Automotive Repair Shop into a Wally's Automotive Repair Chain, as he goes about opening twenty-three stores in four states throughout the Midwest, and he did it all by the tender age of twenty-six years old. But when an ailing automotive manufacturing company, who was on the brink of bankruptcy, come to enlist Robert's help, they find that they now have a fighting chance at moving ahead, and after only three years at the helm of this company, Robert manages to take this company from being number four auto manufacturer in the world to being the number one. But even though the corporate world tries to say that he was a genius, Robert never stopped believing that the true genius in him was really his love for his fellow man and his business smarts which he displayed before corporate America. After his successes at Marryna Motors, Robert retires to take over his own business once more, but his tenure as president and CEO of Marryna Motor leaves the automotive world changed forever.
