The Undead of the Low Country-Book Two is finally here! Roland Mathias is back! He has a new role, a new war to finish, and the pressure is too much! Enjoy the following passage:"I feel myself grow weak suddenly.I am on the floor. My mind shuts down.I am drifting now.I feel myself being lifted as if by air beneath me.I do not see with my eyes.I hear the High Elder's voice fading away. I am being swept up and away. I try with all my strength to move or awaken. Then, it occurs to me.I am being summoned to the sacred Place Between Places.I had been resisting it all along. The Dark One must have gotten tired of my being earthbound. My eyes do not open as they normally do.It was more of seeing through the mist of a dreamy haze from afar.I am being hurled into blackness with no borders.I struggle and my movements are clipped and futile.I come to a halt.My eyes hurry to find some anchor.I feel my feet hit solid earth.I collapse again and just as soon as I hit a great light begins. Its blinding strength forces my eyes to squint to see.I see three great beings made entirely of light.A fourth being is much taller and glows a dark purple hue.I look down at my being. I am orange light. My body is fluid light. My hands are not needed, neither are my feet. I float with no effort. The weight I felt under my feet is gone. I gaze upon these great beings. There are no words. The tall one approaches me.He does not speak. He reaches out to touch my face. The others soon follow.I am aware of who they are.I tremble with gratitude.I am in the presence of all the Elders before me.The tall one is the First, Je-Li.I try to speak. I feel tears form. The First brushes my eyes for me. His touch is the lightest feather ever to fall upon my skin.I feel something. I look upon him. The others surround me. Each one is touching me. They smile upon me.I see their faces some despite the intensity of the glow. They are the ancients of my kind.I look like a misfit amongst them.I feel my mind being pulled towards the tall one.He tilts his great head and flexes. He moves towards me. I feel myself go limp. They surround and consume me with their brightness.I feel teeth on my neck and great pain surges through me.I scream as loud as I can.My cries fall on unsympathetic ears. They each flex and feed from me.I beg them to stop.I plead but no words are said.As quickly as it began, it ends. The tall one lifts me up and cradles me in his great arms.He places his long talons over my eyelids. I am awash with peace and weightless.I look up at him and all fear leaves me. He enters my mind. I see vision of every event since my kind came to be.It happens in a breath and then flees.I fear I will die here. The tall one is glowing brighter. He places me gently in the arms of the others. He soon returns, holding a large white stone that glows from within. His other hand is empty as if to indicate something is missing. That is all I recall..."Find out what happens in this riveting follow-up and book two in the trilogy.
