A missing woman, a killer cult and only one woman who can stop the murders. Bodies are being found in streams, ponds and pools: any unguarded stretch of water. Law enforcement is puzzled by their proximity to water, but they are more puzzled by the fact that the bodies have all been bled empty. Each body is marked by the similar tattoo of an upside down crucifix on the inner thigh.Added to this chain of events is the disappearance of a young woman who possesses the same tattoo. A chance mix of circumstances brings prisons expert Beloved Childe into the search for the young woman. It soon becomes clear that the search is for more than the woman. The ultimate goal is the murderous cult that is behind the killings. Beloved is vital to the search. She fascinates the cult membership because of an aspect of her past that she would rather forget. She is a singular person, not the sort of girl most parents would like their sons to bring home. She knows she has continuing and pressing needs for whiskey and sex. Avoiding sex with the cult's leaders becomes impossible if she wants to win their trust. While she routinely picks up men to satisfy her own needs, she finds that doing the same with men she despises in order to prove them part of a murderous cult is something quite different. Not playing her part convincingly enough could cost her life.
