Hired to help block the hostile take-over of an American computer company by a wealthy German, Egon von Rath, he soon discovers that von Rath is not what he appears to be. Who exactly is this man? How did he amass his huge fortune? Is von Rath raiding American companies and selling their advanced technologies to the Soviet Union? The one person with the key to his identity is Daniel Stein, a World War Two intelligence officer who ran' von Rath as an operative against the Russians in postwar Germany. But even Stein never knew the whole truth about von Rath. Now, he has a terrible score to settle with the old man and willingly joins Scott in his attempt to unmask the German billionaire. In pursuit of their quarry, the three are plunged into the murky history of the treacherous last days of the Third Reich. It is there that they discover Nazi "werewolves," the notorious SS Commando Otto Skorzeny, a plot named Tarnhelm' . . . and the birth of Egon von Rath. Yet even as they get closer to the truth, von Rath is closing in on them.
