As the country of Canada matured it became obvious that the old sedentary militia system was inadequate to defend Canada. So in 1855 the present Volunteer Militia system was created. Roger's first book is, "Soldiers and Warriors," the exciting story of the first ten years of the volunteer system in Brant County, Canada, from the formation of Independent Companies to the establishment of the 38th Brant Battalion of Infantry. He is also the author of "A Movement of the Spirit" the interesting story of St. James Anglican Church, Paris, ON.
