Abstract: Queen Liliuokalani was the last reigning monarch of the sovereign Kingdom of Hawaii. Her influence upon the Hawaiian culture was significant, particularly in the area of music. This project report investigates the life, times, and musical compositions of Liliuokalani. It contains a biography and the events in Hawaiian history during her lifetime, a classification of her compositions into two styles, and a quantification (counting) of her works as researched by the author at The Bernice P. Bishop Museum Library Archives in their original forms within sixteen selected collections. The bibliographic entries of primary and secondary sources number over 150. This report is a starting point for further research on He Buke Mele Hawaii by Liliuokalani, and other sources, that may be found at the Hawaii State Archives, State Capitol Building, in Honolulu.
