The Northern Ireland Housing Executive is a non-departmental public body established by the Housing Executive Act (Northern Ireland) 1971. It is Northern Ireland's single comprehensive regional housing authority, with a budget in excess of £600 million, and is one of the region's largest public sector organisations. Its objective is to provide the public with the opportunity to access decent, affordable housing in safe and sustainable communities, to develop strategies to influence the wider housing market, and to work with others to foster urban and rural renewal. This is the 35th annual report and accounts of the Executive which covers its work during the year 2005-06.
