This short story collection is the hard work of a publishing class at Geneva College, PA. We met in classroom number 34 on January 9th, 2017, and from then on we've been collecting oddities for this little freak show. Room 34 is where the weirdness began, and the book you're holding in your hands is where the weirdness continues on. Many of the students in this collection consider themselves writers. Through and through. They were born with a pen in hand and will die that way. They will look back on the work collected here and smile, maybe cringe, maybe laugh, but they will see a building block of their writing lives. Some of the other authors included don't consider themselves writers at all. They do not enjoy writing. They may never write another story. This is not to say they won't tell stories. Of course they will. They'll go on telling and hearing stories with pleasure. Being human, how can they help themselves? It's just that we will not get another chance to see their storied-minds in this way: captured by inky tracks across a page. Here there be rare artifacts, and monsters. Of course. "The Oddities" authors have carefully read over all the stories of this volume. Class after class we praised one another's work, laughed at various missteps, and helped nudge stories forward onto their better feet.
